Well true believers, it’s that time of year again. When artists, collectors, designers, producers, retailers, actors, and consumers come from all corners of the earth to celebrate their, what else, nerdism!! This we I am searching hi and low for the perfect team of artists to bring for our first set of ‘The Healing Blade” card games. To be honest, even as a vertern at these events, I am always overwhelmed by the sheer amount of talent to find here. It’s like being a kid released in a candy store when you’re hunting for artist at the annual Comic-Con. Everyone you meet is world class, everyone is a master of their style with an eye for detail and a story to tell through art. So I put on my thinking cap… my Doreamon shaped thinking cap, and headed into the belly of the beast.

I met people who had illustrated the covers of comic books I had grown to love just the past year and have had design experience with Magic the Gathering and World of Warcraft cardgames. This may sound like an easy job, but let me share with you that it takes quite a bit of effort in it self to introduce yourself, pitch your project (because if they are not interested, they may not work with you), explain the detail, and find out their availability and rates. But in my humble opinion, its all worth it in the end because of some of the amazing people I’ve met.  Jump in to see some of the world class artists I had the privilege of meeting with!

Well, that’s it for me, Francis Kong, here at Comic-Con. Wishing you a happy weekend. I hope your days will be filled with as much magic as mine have been.
