THB Pestilence Profile – Bartonella henselae

This feline creature has a propensity for clawing attacks, going directly for its victims eyes (cunjunctivitis) and viscera (endocarditis and hepatitis). Rarely, the creatures bite can induce a feverish delerium (encephalitis).   Which Apothecary heroes seem to be able to overcome this fearsome creature?  Azithromycin, Doxycycline, Erythromycin and Ciprofloxacin.

These creatures take their namesake to heart as they are very “difficult” to kill. The grow toxic spores from their backs as one of their means of reproduction. Occasionally, extended conflicts can lead to the creature paralyzing the entire gut, a frightening condition called toxic megacolon.

Clostridium perfringens: THB Pestilence Profile

A weaker cousin of the frightening C. difficile, this creature can however wreak havoc when outside of its usual habitat. It secretes powerful toxins that can lead to cellulitis, gas gangrene and necrotizing fasciitis.

This agent causes “Q fever” (headaches, chills, and respiratory symptoms). The “Q” stands for Question which is what this Spinx-like creature asks its victim before killing them if they answered incorrectly.

Ceftriaxone: THB Apothecary Profile

These are 3rd Generation warriors from a noble family of apothecaries. The irony lies in that while perfecting their skills against Gram negative pestilence (E.Coli, Klebsiella) they have weakened against Gram positive creatures (Staphyloccus and Streptococcus).

Enterococcus fecalis: THB Pestilence Profile

This creature is a fiery colonic demon that can cause infestation in the kidneys, bowels, brain and blood and even the heart valves during protracted engagements. Occasionally, these creatures become resistant to even the mighty Vancomycin, becoming the feared VRE.
