The New King of Kong - NCL Salutes You, sir.

Gotta love this – a plastic surgeon named Hank Chien just beat the world record in Donkey Kong. For those of you in the know, there is a subculture of retro-gaming that permeates the land, with its trials and tribulations highlighted in the outstanding documentary, “King of Kong.” If you haven’t seen it, we highly recommend it. Like all true documentaries, it highlights the very human side of individuals that push themselves to compete in the admittedly niche arena of retro-gaming.

35-year-old plastic surgeon Hank Chien of New York, New York has set a new World Record on the original Donkey Kong arcade game, racking up 1,061,700 points in 2 hours, 35 minutes according to Twin Galaxies officials, ending the game on the famed “kill screen” glitch that does not allow play to continue. Chien’s new scoring mark beats the 1,050,200 point record score set by Florida’s Billy Mitchell at a live event in Florida in July 2007.

In other news, we’re having a blast on Day T2O of AMSA – shoutout to the awesomesauce that was Alberto who convinced us to download the addictive like crack iphone app – ‘Words with Friends’ which was really just an excuse to trash talk us on another platform. +2 points for initiative, young man. Had an amazing dinner with Brittany, Kimberly, Dean and Betty, reminiscing over AMSA’s past over warm flour tortillas and epic mexican sodas. (made with real cane sugar!) =D.
